About Me

LES has a new reading consultant – me! My name is Greta Skiles, and I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful school. Please allow me to share a bit about myself.

I became a teacher because I loved to read as a child (still do!) and wanted to help others learn how to read. During my first year of teaching, I was mentored by a wonderful woman who held the position of reading consultant. Her job was to assist teachers with reading and writing instruction, provide resources and coaching, and help with students who were having difficulty in literacy areas. I knew that following in her footsteps would be my next professional goal. In 2002, I took over the reading consultant position in that school district and found my niche.

My most recent position before coming to Lebanon was at neighboring Franklin Elementary School. I was their reading specialist and spent the majority of my time providing intervention and special education services for struggling readers. When I saw the opening here in Lebanon for the K-4 reading consultant position, I was eager to apply to a district with such a great reputation and the same feel as my very first reading consultant job. LES already feels like the perfect place for me!

While my job is to primarily work with and support the teachers, I will also be helping with some of our students and doing work in the classrooms. My office is in Room 10; feel free to drop in or contact me if you have questions about reading, writing, or spelling. I want to be a resource to parents as well!

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of working here and I look forward to many years of serving the families and staff of Lebanon Elementary School!
